Director Kevin Smith has once again been talking up potential future projects (if any director could make a career talking about things he may, possibly, do in the future it’s ‘r Kev), and it appears as though the director is moving ahead with a Mallrats follow-up, but rather than releasing a second movie (as he’s talked about for years) Mallrats could be coming to TV.
Speaking on a Philadelphia radio station, Smith said “Universal and I are just about to close our deal to do Mallrats the series… Then we take it out into the world to find a home for it. So instead of doing a Mallrats movie, I’m going to do 10 episodes of a Mallrats series.”
It follows Smith’s newfound passion for TV, as currently riding high on a wave of praise from a recently directed episode of The Flash, he’s also been talking about plans to turn ’80s cult film The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th Dimension into a TV series, and looks to have now sold the idea to a studio.
