Adapted from the classic, 1960s, spy TV show of the same name, and coming from director Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows), The Man From U.N.C.L.E will soon be making its big screen debut, and has just has its first official trailer released online; now available to view below, along with an official poster on the right.
Starring Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) as super-suave CIA agent Napoleon Solo, the new film will see solo teaming up with a young, highly-skilled, KGB agent (Armie Hammer, The Lone Ranger), as they set off on a globe-trotting adventure; working for the United Network Command for Law Enforcement (U.N.C.L.E) in an attempt to stop a criminal organisation destabilising world power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons.
Joining a host of other spy movies which are being released this year; including Kingsman: The Secret Service, Spy, and new James Bond movie Spectre (the latest still and video for which can be seen here); and seemingly coming to screen with a fun, tongue-in-cheek, attitude which mirrors that of the classic show, it’s set to serve as an origin story for solo, and could potentially set up a new action/spy franchise.
With supporting stars including Alicia Vikander (Ex_Machina), Hugh Grant (The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists), Jared Harris (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) and Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby), as well as a rumoured appearance from David Beckham, The Man From U.N.C.L.E is due to be released on August 14th in both the US and UK.
