While it’s still unclear exactly what stage of the dealmaking process she is currently at (with some sources suggesting she is still negotiating, other saying she’s merely tested, and some having her already signed on), it appears as though director Zack Snyder (Sucker Punch) has found a villainess for his upcoming Superman reboot, in German actress Antje Traue.
Last seen in Pandorum, Traue will be joining the cast as Faora; although the name isn’t a guaranteed thing, as there has been several versions of Faora in the Superman comics (including one who could best Superman in a hand-to-hand fight, and another who was an aide to General Zod, and the inspiration for Ursa in Superman and Superman 2); alongside Boardwalk Empire’s Michael Shannon, who has been cast as the evil Kryptonian General Zod.
The pair will be causing trouble for Herny Cavill (The Tudors) who has been cast as Clark Kent/Superman, in the reboot (titled Man of Steel) that also stars The Fighter’s Amy Adams (as Lois Lane), Waterworld’s Kevin Costner (as Clark’s adoptive father Jonathan), and Untraceable’s Diane Lane (as Clark’s adoptive mother Martha).
Filming will begin on Man of Steel this coming summer (in Chicago; the principal location for both of Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies), ahead of a theatrical release in December 2012.
