Mark Wahlberg Producing Shooter TV Series

Mark WahlbergDirected by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day/Olympus Has Fallen) 2007’s action/thriller Shooter was adapted from the first of a series of Stephen Hunter novels (Point Of Impact), obviously bringing the potential for Mark Wahlberg’s sniper (Bob Lee Swagger) to appear in a string of movies which never materialised. Yet the franchise potential hasn’t gone unnoticed and will not go to waste, as Mark Wahlberg is reportedly developing a Shooter TV series for TNT.

Working with screenwriter John Hlavin (Underworld: Awakening), and producer Stephen Levinson (who co-produced both Boardwalk Empire and Entourage with Wahlberg), Marky Mark will be toiling away on the small screen adaptation, though there’s been no suggestion that he will reprise the role of Swagger for the spin-off show.

While there’s currently no date for Shooter’s pilot episode thus far, it’s likely Whalberg and Levinson will be looking to start once they’ve finished working on the final season of Boardwalk Empire (currently airing on HBO in the US, and on Sky Atlantic in the UK), and place it alongside the slew of other movie adaptations which will soon be jumping to the small screen; including Minority Report, School of Rock, and Shutter Island.
