Set to be the feature=length directorial debut for Yolanda Ramke and Ben Howling (who’re adapting their own, well received, short – available to view below) Cargo has just found its leading actor in none other than The Hobbit star Martin Freeman.
Freeman (last seen in Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, and Captain America: Civil War) will be playing the part of a father, stranded in a zombie-infested Australia who’s looking f0r a home for his infant daughter. The kicker being he’s racing against the clock, battling his own impending zombification, as he’s already been bitten by his zombie wife.
The rights to the film have been up for sale at Cannes (Icon already had a deal in place for UK distribution rights), as Cargo, produced by The Babadook‘s Kristina Ceyton, is set to begin filming in Australia this autumn and will hopefully be released sometime next year.
