It was promised at Comic-Con, and now, just as it’s about to grace the release of the Thor Blu-ray and DVD, the first in a series of “Marvel One-Shots” productions; bridging the gaps between the standalone Marvel superhero movies and the upcoming Avengers mashup has been released online, and is now available to view here.
Starring Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, the short (titled The Consultant) features him and a fellow SHIELD agent discussing their job, and bringing in ‘the consultant’ (a recognizable figure in the Marvel universe) to handle a delicate job for them, and will soon be followed up by the second short; A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer.
The shorts are sure to provide a fun and interesting way to further promote The Avengers in the run up to it’s release; other than the massive number of images, clips, trailers, concept art, etc. that every movie floods the marketplace with just before it hits theaters; and are bound to see fans going every more gooey over the upcoming Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) directed movie that’s due to feature Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and a number of other recognizable Marvel faces (including Nick Fury; Samuel L. Jackson), when it’s released on May 4th 2012 in both the US and UK.
