In a hardly surprising turn of events Deadline have just reported that Max Borenstein has recently closed a deal with Legendary Pictures to write the screenplay for the upcoming sequel to this year’s Godzilla movie.
It was always likely Borrenstein would write the script for the second Godzilla movie, as he not only scripted the first film, but has also written the upcoming King Kong origins movie Skull Island (which just secured Tom Hiddleston as lead actor); making him the go-to-guy for giant monster movies at the moment.
While a cast list is yet to be announced (it’s still very early days), it has been hinted that the sequel, which is due to once again be directed by Welshman Gareth Edwards, will see the giant lizard Godzilla once again battling a series of other giant monsters; revisiting old favourites from the classic Japanese Godzilla movies, when it’s released on June 8th 2018 in the US, and on June 18th 2018 in the UK.
