It was only the other day that we reported on MGM and Screen Gems plans to remake the classic horror picture Carrie; the 1976, Brian De Palma (Scarface), film that’s widely regarded as one of the genre’s best; but there have already been a couple of high-profile actresses linked to the titular role; the latest of which is none other than Megan Fox.
While many fans are utterly against a remake even entering production, Megan Fox; who classes herself as a “huge fan of the original”, and would like to think her turn in Jennifer’s Body prepares her for starring in more horror movies; is reportedly very interested in the film, and “would love the chance to play the lead” in Carrie.
However despite wanting to play the lead, and feeling “she could still do justice” to the character, Fox doesn’t exactly fit the bill for the titular Carrie White; a (homely teenager who’s an utter social outcast and ridiculed by everyone she knows); being not only 25, but often voted as one of the most attractive women on the planet, and a women whom it would be hard to imagine being a true outcast.
Stephen King; the horror writer who’s original novel the De Palma film was based on; has also weighed in with his views, and suggested Lindsay Lohan (Machete) could be “fun”, but tended to agree with fans of the original movie when he asked a poignant and relevant question relating to the remake; asking “why [remake Carrie]? when the original was so good?”
