It’s been talked about, rumoured, and wished for, for years, but now fans of the the Metal Gear Solid video-gaming franchise have got the news they’ve been hoping for; as producer Avi Arad (Spider-Man) is officially on board, and producing, the upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie.
Coming from franchise creator and all-round video-gaming legend Hideo Kojima (who was speaking recently at the Metal Gear 25th anniversary party in Tokyo), the news will be welcomed by fans who have craved a movie adaptation of the (already cinematic) series for years, but should also be treated with a degree of trepidation, as all previous attempts to bring MGS, and the stealthy world inhabited by Solid Snake, to the big screen have failed.
Unsurprisingly (given Metal Gear’s history with the Playstation brand) Sony are in charge of the planned film, and while the plot is still uncertain at this point, most gamers are decidedly eager to know two things; who’s going to direct? (Kojima would love Christopher Nolan, though that’s unlikely), and who’s going to play Snake?
