While Ridley Scott (Prometheus) has now bowed out, it looks as if Reykjavik is still moving ahead; as the true-life story may have nabbed a new director in Mike Newell (the man who’s just directed Great Expectations and has now entered talks for the film), and just found its Ronald Regan, in Michael Douglas (Wall Street).
Set over the course of a few days in 1986, when US President Ronald Regan met with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in the titular city to discuss a peace treaty after the Chernobyl disaster, Reykjavik is currently searching for its Gorbachev, and will likely lock down a release date once one is found.
