Mickey Rourke is The Ice Man

After being a superstar back in the ‘80s, having a playboy attitude that really didn’t gel with the big movie studios ideas, and retiring from acting to begin a mediocre boxing career, Mickey Rourke’s onscreen comeback began with his role as Marv in Sin City, but really exploded after starring in The Wrestler, and after nailing roles in Iron Man 2, and The Expendables, his career shows no signs of slowing down, as he’s currently attached to several different movies, considering at least two Tony Scott (Man on Fire) projects and recently signed on to appear as the titular character in The Ice Man.

Despite clearly sounding like a superhero movie, The Ice Man is an adaptation of Philip Carlo’s book of the same name; chronicling the true story of a mafia hitman named Richard “The Ice Man” Kuklinski; and is being written by American History X’s David McKenna, and has been described (by the production company’s CEO, Matty Beckerman) as “a role Mickey was born to play”, as it’s both “fascinating, and unlike any mafia story that’s been brought to the bigscreen” before.

But while the real-life tale of a man who spent 40 years living a double life (unbeknown to his beloved family) as a professional killer may sound intriguing (or like the making of a mediocre network TV show, depending on your viewpoint), it still hasn’t got a director attached, and as such, won’t be receiving a release, or even a start date, anytime soon.
