Being released way back in 1993 Mrs. Doubtfire (yes, that’s right, Mrs. Doubtfire was released 11 years ago), fans had all but given up hope of seeing a sequel to the movie which saw Robin Williams (Good Morning Vietnam) dressing up as a granny in order to skirt the custody laws and not only spend some extra time with his kids, but win his ex-wife back, but it seems as though one of the big screen’s best-loved babysitters could soon be back; with Williams, and original director Christopher Columbus potentially returning for Mrs. Doubtfire 2.
After the success of the first movie most of the principals involved thought a sequel may materialise, but couldn’t lock down an idea worth pursuing, though after numerous writers have come and gone over the years, Elf’s David Berenbaum has just been given the job of scripting the second film; which Fox 2000 seems intent on producing, and apparently have the backing of both Williams and Columbus (provided they approve of the eventual script).
