Despite the fact buying hasn’t even begun Sony have just closed the first major deal in Berlin by purchasing the distribution rights (in territories including parts of Europe, Asia, and all of Australia) for the upcoming supernatural thriller The Forest; starring Game Of Thrones actress Natalie Dormer.
Looking set to become a rising star in the next couple of years (by not only starring in The Forest, but The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, TV movie The Woman in Red, and the intriguing global pandemic thriller Patient Zero), Dormer will headline The Forest as a young woman who goes in search of her missing twin sister; centering in Japan’s Aokigahara forest (at the base of Mt. Fuji).
Despite warnings insisting she stay on the path Dormer’s character veers into the forest in search of her sister and comes face-to-face with the angry and tormented souls of the dead, who prey on anyone who enters the forest, in the film which will co-star Michael Huisman (Wild), has been based on an original idea by The Dark Knight screenwriter David S. Goyer, and is set to be directed by newcomer Jason Zada ahead of a US release on January 8th next year (expect other release dates to follow shortly).
