Borrowing from the classic image of Abe we all know so well, the latest poster for the upcoming 100% historically accurate* Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter uses the Lincoln memorial to hammer home the idea that the former president knew that vampires really did exist, and used his time as the leader of the free world trying to eradicate their existence at all costs.
Due to be played by Benjamin Walker (Flags of Our Fathers), Lincoln will begin the movie by seeing his mother slain by a marauding vampire, before Henry Sturgess (Dominic Cooper, Captain America) teaches him how to battle the fanged ones, and he sets off to fight Adam (Rufus Sewell, A Knight’s Tale); a vampire who, along with several slave owners, works to keep a steady supply of humans heading towards his toothy friends dinner plates.
Directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter will also chronicle the rise of America’s 16th president, and delve into his personal life (including looking at his marriage to Mary Todd; who’ll be played by The Thing’s Mary Elizabeth Winstead), when it’s released on June 22nd in the US, and on August 2nd in the UK.
