New Director For Tomb Raider Reboot

It’s been rumoured for sometime, though there’s been very little movement on the planned Tomb Raider reboot until now; as director Roar Uthaug has just been hired to helm the new Tomb Raider movie.

Uthaug is a known Norwegian director who’ll be using Lara Croft’s newest outing as his English-language debut. It’ll be extremely difficult to Uthag to find an actress as suited to the part (in looks as much as acting talent) as Angelina Jolie was, and while several names (including Olivia Wilde) have been mentioned in the past there’s no official word on who will play the titular raider herself.

Geneva Robertson-Dworet (part of the Transformers writing team) will be scripting the film (which has already burned through a number of writers), and while no official details have been released as yet it’s expected to follow the path of the most recent Tomb Raider video games by going back to Lara’s first days of exploring.
