It was way back in July that the first official teaser trailer for Faster was released; and didn’t show a whole lot, aside from Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson (The Tooth Fairy) wandering around with a gun, driving a muscle car, and threatening some revenge fueled violence; but now, for those people who demanded more (as if the thought of muscle cars, guns, and revenge fueled violence, wasn’t enough), a much more detailed trailer has been released (and can be seen below).
Faster follows the exploits of a character known as Driver (Johnson), as he gets out of prison (where he ended up after a botched bank heist saw him arrested and his brother murdered), and promptly heads to exact his timely revenge on those he deems responsible for his incarceration, and more importantly, the death of his brother.
Faster is a George Tillman (Men of honour) directed feature that stars Billy Bob Thornton (Armageddon), Maggie Grace (Knight and Day), and Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter), alongside Johnson, in this revenge/action/thriller that’s been touted as a return to ‘70s style movies such as The French Connection, and places a great distance between Johnson and the child-oriented films he’s been releasing of late.
Billy Bob will be playing a veteran cop who’s hot on the trail of Driver, and determined to put a stop to his vengeful quest before it gets out of hand; a similar goal to that of a young assassin played by Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Going the Distance), who aims to put a rather bloody stop to Driver’s mission.
Faster’s being released in the U.S. on November the 19th; but won’t be appearing in the U.K. until next February; however, anyone that want’s to see footage from the film ahead of time can check out the new trailer (which shows a good deal more than the original) below.
