With the UK release of the Planet of the Apes prequel movie; Rise of the Planet of the Apes only a week away (on August 11th), and the US release only a matter of hours away (on August 5th), a new international poster for the film has just surfaced online, and is now available to view on the right-hand-side of this article.
Taking a different approach to the generally people-free US and UK posters, this international release features headshots of stars James Franco (127 Hours) and Frieda Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire), as well as a clear shot of the headlining ape Caesar; who’s portrayed by The Lord of the Rings’ Andy Serkis (who bafflingly, and rather offensively, doesn’t get a credit on the poster), and is the ape who, in the movie, instigates a rebellion against the humans which will eventually lead to the apes taking control of the planet.
Co-starring Brian Cox (Ironclad), Tom Felton (Harry Potter), and John Lithgow (Dexter), Rise of the Planet of the Apes features amazing special effects work from Weta Digital (who used motion capture footage to turn the actors’ performances into realized CG apes), and has been receiving glowing reviews from a number of high profile critics.
