The latest trailer for the third movie in the Meet the Parents series; Little Fockers; was recently released online (and can be seen below), and has a number of notable differences from the first trailer; including a look at more of the extended cast, and several more faux-swearing jokes; with the most notable difference, being the appearance of Dustin Hoffman (Rain Man).
After walking away from the movie, being written out of the script, and seeing the picture completed without him, Hoffman then returned to the picture, and completed a number of significant reshoots to insert his character into the fold, and can now be seen making his second appearance as Bernie Focker; the hug-happy father of Gaylord Focker (Ben Stiller, Dodgeball), and accidental relation to Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro, Goodfellas).
Little Fockers sees Gaylord (or Greg for short) suffering with a mid-life crisis; as he and his wife Pam (Teri Polo, Beyond Borders) struggle to raise their five-year-old twins, and he begins to worry about providing for his family; giving Pam’s father Jack (an intense, ex-C.I.A agent) cause for concern, when he realizes that Greg is the next in line to lead his family.
Barbra Streisand (The Way We Were) and Blythe Danner (The X Files: Fight the Future) will also be returning as the wives of Bernie Focker and Jack Byrnes respectively, and Owen Wilson (Marley and Me) will be making a comeback in a major way (as opposed to his cameo appearance in Meet the Fockers) as Kevin; Pam’s ex-fiancee who’s clearly still holding a torch for her, and will be causing a good deal of trouble for Greg.
Also appearing in the new sequel, and somehow adding to Greg’s misery, are Jessica Alba (The Fantastic Four); as a representative for a pharmaceutical company; Laura Dern (Jurassic Park); as the headmistress of the twins’ school; and Harvey Keitel (Reservoir Dogs); as a contractor hired by Greg.
It’s clear from the trailer that Little Fockers isn’t exactly high-brow entertainment; as it appears to contain no end of Focker related puns, an extremely uncomfortable situation involving a father-in-law with an erection problem, and inappropriate kissing; but still promises to entertain fans of the first two movies, when it’s released in it’s traditional Christmas slot; on December 22nd.
