Although December is stocked full of Oscar-baiting, melodromatic sappiness, there is one film that is set to give us a well-deserved breather before the drama kicks in. That movie is horror-comedy Krampus, which has been given a crazy new trailer.
Co-written and directed by Michael Dougherty (the man behind the great cult horror Trick ‘r Treat), Krampus tells the story of a boy, Max, who is disillusioned and fed up with his dysfunctional family. His grumpiness is going to get him more than he bargained for though, as his lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of a demon called Krampus. The monster is based on the character in German folklore, and the movie looks to be filled with fun scares and great atmosphere, much like Trick ‘r Treat.
Starring in the film will be Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation), Toni Collette (Little Miss Sunshine), Allison Tolman (The Gift), David Koechner (Anchorman) and Conchata Ferrell (Two and a Half Men). Krampus will hit theatres on December 4.
