Keith Richards has lived an interesting life. He was addicted to heroin in the 1970s, was almost electrocuted on stage in 1965 and had to have brain surgery after falling out of a palm tree in Fiji. This is probably why he’s the subject of Morgan Neville’s next documentary, which has been given its first trailer.
Under the Influence is produced by Netflix, and follows Richards on the road as he writes his first solo album in 23 years, Crosseyed Heart. The documentary will explore Richards’ thoughts on his own life, and how he has become one of the most influential musicians of all time.
Morgan Neville won the Best Documentary Oscar in 2014 for Twenty Feet From Stardom, another music documentary that focused on the careers of often neglected back-up singers. Keith Richards: Under the Influence will see its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on September 17, and will premiere on Netflix the day after.
