A project that fell by the wayside when the financial troubles at MGM Studios finally came to a head, the planned Robocop remake was eventually scrapped, only to be brought back from the brink, and given a second chance; which now includes giving yet another writer a go at cracking its script.
Josh Zetumer was the last scribe reported to have been tackling the tale of the half-man, half-cop, all machine beast that is Robocop, though that job has now passed to Nick Schenk; the screenwriter for Clint Eastwood’s impressive drama Gran Torino.
Originally slated to have Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler) filling out the director’s chair, the new Robocop remake is now scheduled to be directed by none other than Jose Padilha; the man who made Elite Squad (the impressive and gritty movie that made more money at the Brazilian Box Office than Avatar), and hopes to have Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class) filling out Alex Murphy’s metal suit.
