Adapted from David Nicholls’ best-selling novel of the same name, One Day follows the relationship of a young couple who spend one unforgettable night together in 1988, but rather than becoming romantically involved, become friends who simply can’t stop thinking about one another, and form a lasting relationship over the twenty years that follow.
A romantic story that’s far from a fairytale, One Day has been directed by Lone Scherfig (An Education), and stars Anne Hathaway (Alice in Wonderland) and Jim Sturgess (The Way Back) as Emma and Dexter; the film’s star-crossed lovers who have their twenty-year relationship re-told through a series of life-altering events that all take place on July the 15th.
Sometimes together, sometimes apart, sometimes happy and sometimes sad, One Day will follow the ups and downs of the couple’s intertwined lives, as the not always kind hand-of-fate will shift their relationship, and force Emma and Dexter to examine the nature of love and life itself, when it’s released in the US on August 19th, and makes it’s release date in the UK on August 26th.
