Open Windows looks to be putting a modern-day spin on Alfred Hitchcock’s classic thriller Rear Window (and clearly looking to change things up a good deal more than Disturbia did), and you can now see the first official Open Windows trailer below.
Coming from Timecrimes’ director Nacho Vigalondo, Open Windows stars consistently busy actor Elijah Wood (who’s worked on three movies already this year, as well as two TV series, but remains best known as the hobbit Frodo Baggins from Lord of the Rings), as a young man named Will who wins a competition for a date with the actress he idolises; Jill Goddard (former porn star Sasha Grey; who’s been busy building a straight acting career since being cast in The Girlfriend Experience, notching up roles in Entourage, and Smash Cut); only to have her back out of the deal.
Understandably disappointed, Will’s tale takes a turn for the creepy when, contacted by someone posing as her publicist, he begins following the actress’ every move via a hacked webcam, and phone-cam, only to later find out he’s been allowed to play the voyeur by a psychopath named Chord (played by Kill List’s Neil Maskell), and has stepped into a game with potentially deadly consequences.
Whilst the intriguing, yet unusual film (which plays out via a number of desktop computer windows, showing multiple video sources at once) was completed more than a year ago, it’s been doing the rounds via a number of festivals ever since. Now, we finally have an Open Windows official UK release date of October 17th, which will follow the US release of September 29th.
