Below you’ll find the first official teaser poster for Patriots Day; the upcoming film from director Peter Berg, based on the Boston Marathon coming of 2013 and the subsequent manhunt which followed.
Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were eventually tracked down and held accountable for the bombings, and Peter Berg’s film will blend the real events behind the bombings and the manhunt with a dose of dramatic license, to show viewers how law enforcement officials found their men; with Mark Wahlberg (soon to be seen in another of Berg’s upcoming true-life tales, Deepwater Horizon) due to play a composite of several Boston P.D. officers who worked on the case.
Also starring J.K. Simmons (Whiplash), John Goodman (10 Cloverfield Lane), Melissa Benoist (Supergirl), Michelle Monaghan (Source Code), and Kevin Bacon (Footloose) Patriots Day has been scripted by Matt Charman (Bridge Of Spies), and is due to receive a limited US release on December 21st (just making it eligible for next year’s Oscar season), before opening wider on January 13, and eventually receiving its official UK release on January 27th next year.
