Films fans have been eagerly awaiting any news regarding the latest movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, ever since the fourth film in the series (subtitled On Stranger Tides) was announced, and now; only days after releasing a number of official images from the film; On Stranger Tides has had its first official trailer released (which you can view below).
Beginning with some rather recognizable footage, the trailer gives audiences a look at the basic plot; which sees Captain Jack Sparrow (once again played by Alice in Wonderland star Johnny Depp) searching for the coveted, but illustrious, Fountain of Youth (which was strongly hinted at in the last movie).
Joining Depp are series regulars Geoffrey Rush (Shakespeare in Love), and Kevin McNally (Entrapment); as the vile pirate Barbossa, and Sparrow’s trusted friend Gibbs, respectively; as well as Penolope Cruz (who previously appeared alongside Depp in Blow) and Ian McShane (The Pillars of the Earth), who will play a potential love interest from Sparrow’s past, and the much-feared pirate Blackbeard respectively.
Needless to say there will be all sorts of backhanded deals, betrayal, supernatural events, and special effects, when On Stranger Tides finally lands; with plenty of intrigue, fun, mermaids, and zombies; on May 18th in the U.K., and May 20th in the U.S.
