In another decision likely to cause a huge amount of controversy (if the outcry caused by the casting of Meryl Streep as British former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher is anything to go by), American actress Jessica Chastain has just been cast as the late Princess Diana; headlining an upcoming biopic on the life of the former Mrs Prince Charles.
Chastain (best known for her recent stints in The Tree of Life, and The Help) will be starring in the upcoming Oliver Hirschbiegel (Downfall) directed biopic, which is titled Caught In Flight, and likely to be controversial enough in its own right; as it’s due to follow the relationship between Diana and Hasnat Khan (a passionate affair Khan refused publicly discuss for over a decade after Diana’s death).
Caught In Flight has been written by Steven Jeffreys, is due to be filmed in a number of different locations (one of which includes Paris; where the Princess famously met an untimely end in 1997), and is likely to further infuriate Diana’s huge and lasting fanbase; as it’s reported to present the late Princess in a decidedly less than flattering manner.
