With two films in the works before he can begin fully concentrating on his two most hotly anticipated upcoming films (sequels to Prometheus, and Blade Runner), director Ridley Scott still can’t escape questions about his hopefully fan-pleasing projects; recently telling Yahoo there will be no recognisable Xenomorphs (Aliens, from Alien) in Prometheus 2.
Saying emphatically “the beast is done. Cooked” Ridley confirmed the Xenomorph’s absence (as after alluding to them in the first Prometheus fans we half-expecting to see a fully fledged Xeno in Prometheus 2), stating how “after four [Alien movies] I think it wears out a little bit. There’s only so much snarling you can do, and I think you’ve got to come back with something more interesting. And I think we’ve found the next step.” Adding how he believes “the Engineers [from the Prometheus] were a good start.”
While the title is still extremely likely to change Prometheus 2 is currently being scripted (having already been through a large number of drafts), and is only one of a multitude of projects Scott has on the go; with Exodus: Gods And Kings in post-production at the moment, The Martian due to start filming in November, and a Blade Runner sequel on the back burner which Scott believes is “quite surprisingly clever” and will once again star Harrison Ford (with shooting very much depending on Ford’s involvement with the new Star Wars movies).
