While it may not have received the rousing reception director Ridley Scott may have hoped for, it appears as though the recently released sci-fi movie, and Alien prequel, Prometheus did big enough business at the Box Office, and left enough loose plot threads, to warrant a sequel; which is now being actively pursued.
Having already taken $303 million worldwide so far, it’s hardly surprising that Fox and Scott are looking to develop a second Prometheus, and are now talking to a verity of hopeful writers who could crank out a script for a film that “Ridley is incredibly excited about”; according to Fox’s president of production Emma Watts.
With Scott currently hard at work on The Counsellor (the movie starring Michael Fassbender as a lawyer who dips his toes into the world of drug dealing), any development on a Prometheus sequel would have to take a backseat for the time being, but would likely see the surviving members of the original movie making a return for Prometheus 2, which Watts would apparently like to see on the big screen in either 2014, or 2015.
