Think Raging Bull and you think of the brilliant, Martin Scorsese directed, boxing movie starring Robert De Niro as the amazingly effective yet personally troubled boxer Jake LaMotta, but despite the fact that 1980 film remains a true classic, Universal are pressing ahead with another true-life tale about the fighter, and are currently shooting a new Raging Bull hybird prequel/sequel.
This time around LaMotta will be portrayed by William Forsythe (The Rock), and while it’s unclear exactly what aspects of the fighter’s life will be highlighted in the movie, it is known that Forsythe will be playing the aging LaMotta, whilst Mojean Aria (The Unforgettable Key) will be picking up the part of the younger Jake, in the film which co-stars Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan), Ray Wise (Roboocop), Bill Bellamy (Any Given Sunday), Penelope Ann Miller (The Artist), Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas), and Joe Mantegna (Criminal Minds), is currently being filmed on the Universal lot, but is still lacking an official release date.
