It was late last year that we saw the original teaser trailer for Real Steel; a movie set in a not-too-distant future that sees traditional boxing bouts replaced by fights between eight-foot-tall robots; and now, a new theatrical trailer for the film has been released online (and is available to view below).
Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) stars as Charlie Kenton; an ex-boxer turned robot trainer who, along with the son he abandoned as a baby, finds an old sparring ‘bot, and attempts to turn him into a true fighting champion, against all the odds.
The underdog theme is just one of the many boxing cliches on offer in the trailer, yet as it’s a well known fact the public love boxing movies (the likes of the Rocky films, Raging Bull, and more recently The Fighter proving that the high level of drama, emotion, and determination is always a crowd-pleaser), giant robots (Transformers 2 not included), and stories of a loser making it big, Shawn Levy’s (Date Night) Real Steel could be a big hit when it hits its release date on October 7th.
