RED Sequel Confirmed

Loosely based on the DC Comic series of the same name, RED; an action comedy about a number of Retired, Extremely Dangerous, former C.I.A. operatives who reassemble their old team in a last effort to survive the attempts of the assassins being sent after them; has been deemed a big enough success for Summit to order up a sequel.

Erich and Jon Hoeber (the writers of the first movie) have once again been hired by Summit Entertainment to script the sequel to the first film; which managed to pass the $90 million mark at the Box Office (making over four times its opening gross), and gain a large number of positive reviews, including a Golden Globe nomination for Best Comedy/Musical.

As of yet there’s no deals been struck with the original cast, although the studio, and the fans, will obviously be keen to see as many of the original cast; which consisted of Morgan Freeman (The Dark Knight), Bruce Willis (The Expendables), John Malkovich (Con Air), and Helen Mirren (The Queen); return as possible.

Obviously there’s no release date as yet, or even a start date, as the script has only just been commissioned, although anyone looking to see more of RED can still find the comic series available to buy, or pick up the Blu-ray and DVD of the first movie; which is available now in the U.S., and will be released on February 14th in the U.K.
