After the release of The Bourne Legacy (the fourth film in the secret agent action franchise) was decidedly Bourne-less, fans should be pleased to learn that not only will the fifth Bourne film bring Matt Damon back to the forefront of the action, it’ll also reunite him with former Bourne director Paul Greengrass, and will soon be underway; as Universal have just announced a new release date for Bourne 5.
Scripted by Damon, Greengrass, and Paul’s regular script collaborator Christopher Rouse, there’s still next to nothing known about the plot of the film, though we do know any planned follow-ups to Jeremy Renner’s Bourne outing have been shelved indefinitely. We also know the new release date, which has shifted from releasing the weekend after Star Trek 3, to July 29th 2016; a weekend which is free from basically all competition.
