Since the Halloween franchise was rebooted back in 2007 and continued in 2009, horror fans have been wondering when the next entry in the classic franchise would come along; a question that has been firmly answered now that a release date of October 26th 2012 has just been announced.
But despite the confirmation of an official release date, there’s currently no telling what form the final film will take; as while the writer/director team of Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier (the pair that worked on My Bloody Valentine, and Drive Angry, together) were attached to the project in ’09, they’re currently busy working on rebooting the Hellraiser franchise.
Farmer and Lussier had already turned in a script for the film that would have picked up immediately after the events of Rob Zombie’s Halloween II; but as that film didn’t exactly receive universal acclaim, it’s likely the studio would want the series to head in a slightly different direction (though one that undoubtedly involve having the knife wielding Michael Myers donning a jumpsuit once again and going on another slash-happy rampage on every ghouls favourite holiday).
As it’s due to be released just before halloween next year, production on Halloween 3d will have to begin later this year, or extremely early near year at the latest, and so it’s likely a director, possible writers, and cast, will be announced shortly.
