There’s still the best part of year to go before Sony’s latest Spier-Man reboot gets its big screen release, yet the studio obviously have a great deal of faith in the Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) directed movie; The Amazing Spider-Man; and its cast, as they have already announced a release date for the sequel; The Amazing Spider-Man 2; and scheduled it for May 2nd 2014.
Due to be written by Zodiac’s James Vanderbilt (who’s written the screenplay for the upcoming Spider-Man movie, and next year’s Total Recall remake), the sequel will likely reunite several members of the principal cast; including Andrew Garfield (the Never Let Me Go star who’s playing Peter Parker/Spider-Man), Emma Stone (the Zombieland actress who’s portraying his love interest Gwen Stacy), and Mrs. Doubtfire’s Sally Field (who’s appearing as Pete’s Aunt May).
This year’s Comic-Con attendees got a sneak preview at some footage from The Amazing Spider-Man, and though it appears as if the 3D certainly won’t be way to go if you suffer with motion sickness, it did seem as though the franchise was being taken in a slightly darker direction, and, like most current Marvel properties, is likely to do big business at the Box Office when its released on July 3rd 2012, in both the US and UK (jus under two years before the planned sequel).
