While his latest sci-fi movie Prometheus hasn’t exactly won over audiences or critics as he, and the studio, may have liked (see our review to learn why), Ridley Scott is undeterred, and is not only pressing ahead with his planned return to the Blade Runner universe, but has also hinted at making a Biblical epic, re-telling the tale of Moses.
Stating that “what’s interesting to me about Moses isn’t the big stuff that everybody knows; it’s things like his relationship with Ramses II [the Pharaoh]”, and insisting that “some of the details of his life are extraordinary”, Scott’s also said that he “isn’t supposed to say anything” about the project yet, and “probably shouldn’t have let it slip out”, as it’s still very, very, early in the development phase.
Still, while it’ll be a long time before we get to see Scott’s Moses (if it ever materializes); as he’s not only planning the Blade Runner return, but will soon be making The Counselor; there’s a number of other Biblical movies which are soon to be released (including Noah, and David and Goliath), and Scott has insisted that Moses “is definitely in the cards.”
