Based on a series of extremely successful LA Times articles, Warner Bros.’ Gangster Squad will focus on the efforts of a dedicated team of LAPD officers who battled to fight crime and corruption, and do their best to keep East Coast mobsters out of their fair city in the 1940’s, and has just added another impressive name to its cast-list; that of Terminator 2’s Robert Patrick.
Patrick will be replacing Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston (who’s had to bow out of the role due to overwhelming schedule demands) in the film; and starring as a Texan officer who has a rather tenacious approach to his work; alongside Ryan Gosling (Fracture), Sean Penn (Mystic River), Josh Brolin (No Country For Old Men), Michael Pena (Shooter), Giovanni Ribisi (Middle Men), and the recently cast Emma Stone (Zombieland).
Former policeman Will Beall has written the script for the movie; which is due to be directed by Zombieland’s Ruben Fleischer, will begin filming in September, and finally hit cinema screens sometime in 2013.
