An increasingly popular, and calendar-worthy, event, the annual Star Wars Celebration fan convention took place in East London today and was attended by a number of rather influential figures in the Star Wars universe; including director Gareth Edwards, who’s helming the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and took to the Celebration Stage (alongside producer Kathleen Kennedy, and stars Forest Whitaker and Felicity Jones) to introduce a three-minute behind-the-scenes teaser reel for all the fans in attendance, and the millions watching online (should you have missed it, it’s available below).
With a hugely positive vibe which not only celebrates the past, but the new; and emphasises the need for expansion and innovation with the Rogue One spin-off, we’re not only treated here to a lot of new Rogue One footage, but also get a sense of the “war movie” Edwards has been developing here, by crafting the first real non-Jedi Star Wars movie.
The Celebration also saw the debut of a brand new Rogue One: A Star Wars Story poster (below); featuring a battle in a luscious landscape far different to the dark and iconic Star Wars posters we’re used to seeing; and we’d bet it’s just the start of what’ll be on offer this weekend, as this panel was simply one part of a large number of events taking place at London’s ExCel Centre this weekend.
