It was only a few days ago that a whole host of names; including Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger), and Alexa Davalos (Defiance); were potentially linked to the upcoming adaptation of Lee Child’s novel One Shot, though one name has now broken out from the pack, and claimed the role of the female lead; Rosamund Pike.
Pike; who’s been praised for her work in both Barney’s Version and An Education; will be joining Tom Cruise in the film that sees the Mission: Impossible veteran taking on the role of Jack Reacher; a former military policeman turned drifter/investigator who in this film will investigate the case of a sniper (who’s already been charged with the murder of five men), that seems to have more to it than it appears at first glance.
Pike will be playing a local defence lawyer; given the unenviable job of defending the sniper; and will likely get the chance to once again show off he impeccable talent for accents, when filming for One Shot gets underway this coming autumn in Pittsburgh, ahead of an early 2013 release.
