Already boasting a cast that includes The Tudors’ Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, Amy Adams (The Fighter) as Lois Lane, and Kevin Costner (Field of Dreams) and Diane Lane (Unfaithful) and Jonathan and Martha Kent, director Zack Snyder (Sucker Punch) is aiming to further bolster his cast with the inclusion of Russell Crowe (The Next Three Days).
Crowe is still in the negotiating stage at this point, but it seems extremely likely he’ll appear in the movie, and in a role that once commanded and inordinate amount wage packet ($16 million dollars for only 15 minutes of screen-time), when it was filled by The Godfather’s Marlon Brando; that of Superman’s biological father Jor-El.
It’s not yet clear how large a role Jor-El will have to play in the upcoming Superman reboot (titled Man of Steel); a film which is being produced by Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight) from a story by himself and David S. Goyer (Batman Begins), is due to begin production either late summer, or early fall, in Vancouver, and will be released in December 2012.
