It’s another ‘80s remake, and another remake that, for a time at least, looked to be plagued with production issues, though now thoroughly moving ahead, Highlander has cast its leading man; none other than Safe House star Ryan Reynolds.
Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) has stuck to the tradition of not hiring a Scotsman to play the titular Scottish hero Connor MacLeod (as he was played by Frenchman Christopher Lambert in the original movie), in the film which has been scripted by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man), with assistance from Melissa Rosenberg (Twilight: Breaking Dawn), and will presumably once again revolve around the tale of several immortal warriors running round the globe, over several hundred years, lopping one another’s heads off with swords, because, as we all know, there can be only one.
