Following the success of the simple but surprisingly fun San Andreas (full review here) it appears Dwayne Johnson will be back to fight yet another gigantic earthquake, as New Line has just hired writers to draft an official San Andreas sequel.
Details are still being worked out, but apparently expanding the scope this time (as the entire San Andreas fault rocking all of California, causing Tsunamis, buildings to fall on Welshmen, and spilling drinks on the East coast of the US wasn’t enough) we’ll see the action spread to a global disaster which will include the Ring of Fire; a connected chain of fault line and volcanoes in the Pacific Ocean (where many of world’s earthquakes occur).
Carla Gugino and Alexandra Daddario are also expected to return as Dawyne’s ex (is that true anymore?) and daughter respectively, alongside Paul Giamatti as super-seismologist Dr. Lawrence Hayes in the film which is likely to be once again directed by Brad Peyton (currently working with Johnson on a big screen adaptation of the Rampage video game), and produced by Beau Flynn.
