It appears as though his personal scandal is already being brushed aside, and that filmmakers are already willing to bet that The Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger can still prove to be a big Box Office draw; as he’s not only currently working on his first post-Governorship film role (in the modern day western Last Stand), but recently lined up a “substantial role” in The Expendables 2, and is now negotiating to join the upcoming indie action/thriller Captive.
Scripted by Benjamin van der Veen (Che: Part Two) and Kairo Salem (The Score), Captive will place Schwarzenegger as an American real estate mogul who lives in Brazil and ends up getting kidnapped and held for ransom; as the film follows his attempts to escape, and the detective who’s attempting to find him.
Captive is currently pencilled in for a shoot sometime next year, though as relative newcomer Nicolai Fuglsig (the man who came up with the idea for the movie) has now bowed out of directing duties, a replacement director will need to be found before production can officially begin.
