Great Scott Bob!
IDW Publishing has fired a big shot in some actual comics news as San Diego Comic Con prepares to kick off today. With original screenwriter Bob Gale on board, they’ve announced a four part mini series based on the Back To The Future film series!
Subtitled ‘Untold Tales & Alternate Timelines‘, Gale has already promised the series will answer fans questions about the trilogy, stating “For years, fans have asked questions about things that happened before the events of the trilogy, in between the events of the trilogy, or in our alternate realities. In this series, we’ll finally answer some of those questions, with our focus squarely on the characters everyone loves.”
IDW have tapped two of their franchise writers in John Barber (Transformers) & Eric Burnham (Ghostbusters) to co-write two separate stories with Gale that will take up the short series. With a rotating art team involved for issue 2 onwards, #1 starts with Brent Shoonover (Batman ’66) & Dan Schoening (also Ghostbusters) providing art. Our first two stories will be how Marty McFly met Doc Brown in the first place and how Doc ended up getting involved with the Manhatten Project!
Not too many other details are available just yet as the comic hasn’t been solicited for orders yet (apart from that super nifty gatefold image/cover), but IDW are aiming for an October 21st 2015 debut… hey wait a minute!
