While the fans may have been burned by unfounded rumours and missed start dates in the past, Dimension Films has just confirmed that Machete director Robert Rodriguez will be returning to one of his best loved properties, and finally releasing a sequel to his much-loved adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novel Sin City.
Sin City 2, or to give it it’s proper (and now official) title; Sin City: A Dame to Kill For; will be based on Miller’s tale of the same name, has been scripted by both Miller and The Departed’s William Monahan, will once again tell three different tales (two of which will be entirely new, and not based on any currently existing Miller tome), and according to Rodriguez “will certainly be worth the wait.”
Miller went further in saying that Sin City 2 will “shake things up” and “go even further than the first” by delivering a truly “ferocious film experience”, and while no cast have been confirmed as of yet (official casting for A Dame To Kill For won’t begin until next week) it’s reasonable to expect that Mickey Rourke will return as Marv (seen as how Marv features so heavily in the published version of A Dame To Kill For), and Dimension have stated “many of the original cast are expected to return.”
