Already enjoying fantastic superhero success on the small screen with The Flash (which premiered its second season last night) and Arrow (which has its fourth season premiering tonight), Sky 1 have just announced they’ll be picking up accompanying CBS TV Supergirl.
Sky 1 director Adam MacDonald said, in a press release, how he’s “delighted to announce Supergirl is coming to Sky 1. We’ve already seen in the success of The Flash and Arrow that comic-book characters are a big hit with our customers, and with this fresh, fast-paced new series, we’re giving them another sure-fire superhero smash.”
Starring Melissa Benoist (Whiplash, Danny Collins) as the titular superhero, and cousin of the legendary Superman, Supergirl will find Kara Zor-El (Benoist) initially hiding her superhuman abilities, before finally embracing them and using them for good with the help of Jimmy Olsen (played by True Blood‘s Mehcad Brooks), Hank Henshaw (Homeland‘s David Harewood), and sister Alex (Grey’s Anatomy‘s Chyler Leigh).
With the pilot due to air on CBS in the US on October 26th, Sky 1 will be picking it up only three days later; airing the first episode of Supergirl on Thursday October 29th at 8pm (meaning there will be Flash on Tuesdays, Arrow Wednesdays, and Supergirl Thursdays – easily fulfilling your midweek superhero quota).
