With Alice in Wonderland seemingly sparking a revolution in new, live-action, re-tellings of classic fairytales (which so far include not only Alice, but Red Riding Hood, and Sleeping Beauty), the latest film to fit the bill; Snow White and the Huntsman; has just had it’s first trailer released online, and looks decidedly different from the Disney version we all know so well.
Starring Kristen Stewart (Twilight) as the titular Snow White, and Charlize Theron (Monster) as The Evil Queen, this new telling of the classic tale puts a new spin on things by having the huntsman who’s hired by The Evil Queen to kill Snow White (simply because she’ll grow up to be a bit prettier than her) ends up becoming her protector and mentor; helping her in her quest to vanquish The Evil Queen once and for all.
Chris Hemsworth (Thor) stars as the huntsman in the film which co-stars Ian McShane (Deadwood), Toby Jones (Captain America), Nick Frost (Paul), Ray Winstone (Sexy Beast), and Bob Hoskins (Hook), and is due to be released on June 1st 2012 in both the US and UK.
