While it’s been one of those long-rumoured, on-again-off-again, projects, a recent Tweet from Rambo himself (Sylvester Stallone) would suggest that Rambo 5 is not only moving ahead, but very clearly penciled in for a not-too-distant start date, and also has a brand new title; Last Blood.
Picked up by The Hollywood Reporter, Stallone’s Tweet (dated Dec. 28th) states his upcoming gangster movie Scarpa (based on the life of mobster Greg Scarpa) will film filmed after the next Rambo movie; which Stallone has himself scripted, and is once again set to direct.
Following the rather disappointing Box Office performance of The Expendables 3 (the latest action movie in a franchise which was very much Sly’s brainchild), it should come as no surprise to see Stallone bolstering newer projects; Scarpa (due to be directed by Runner Runner’s Brad Furman); with some of his most iconic roles; as he’s not only returning to the Rambo franchise, but is also set to appear in the upcoming Rocky spinoff Creed (focussing on Apollo Creed’s grandson).
Doing Scarpa based on Gangster Greg Scarpa after LAST BLOOD RAMBO…
