Choosing to make the announcement via Twitter, Justin Lin (Fast & Furious 6) has given fans the first official picture from the upcoming Star Trek 3, and announced its official title; Star Trek Beyond.
While not an entirely new piece of information (writer/star Simon Pegg had suggested as much), the title is now official, though there’s still very little known about the actual plot; other than the fact it will involve more space exploration than the previous movies.
Filming is currently underway in Vancouver, with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, and Anton Yelchin all returning to the USS Enterprise for Star Trek Beyond (due to be released on July 8th 2016 in the UK). Though we do know Beyond won’t be the final voyage of the Enterprise, as both Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto recently signed on to appear in Star Trek 4 (should Paramount choose to produce it).
