Star Wars Comes to Blu-ray

We’ve known that it’s been coming for quite some time but now, much to the delight of many a fan, we have an official release date for every live-action Star Wars on Blu-ray; including both the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy, as well as a host of extras; all being released this September.

Despite the release date being over eight months away, retailers have already begun taking pre-orders for the saga, as Mike Dunn (president of Fox) has said that “The Star Wars Saga is the most anticipated Blu-ray collection since the launch of the high-def format”; and there’s few people that would argue with that statement; as even officials from retailers such as Amazon have gone on record as saying they expect pre-orders to be very high.

Star Wars will be coming to Blu-ray in three different collections; one containing the original trilogy, one containing the prequel trilogy, and a final set containing a complete collection of all six movies; all of which have been completely digitally remastered for the format.

There’s also plenty of incentives for fans to order the complete saga, as not only does it work out a little cheaper than buying both sets individually, but the full set comes with an additional three discs of special features, containing over 30 hours of bonus materials; including a great deal of never-before-seen footage; such as previously unreleased deleted and alternate scenes.
