Like Defendor, and the much more Box Office friendly Kick-Ass, Super follows the exploits of an ordinary man who takes the extreme step of becoming a superhero, and decides to fight crime all by himself; and has just had a new trailer debut online (which can now be seen below).
Whilst we’ve already seen a clip of the movie, the new trailer for the James Gunn (Slither) written/directed comedy gives a much clearer impression of what we can expect from the movie; which follows ordinary man Frank D’arbo (Rainn Wilson, Juno), as he makes the transition from average bloke into superhero, after a suave drug dealer (portrayed by Hollow Man’s Kevin Bacon) steals his wife away.
Re-inventing himself as The Crimson Bolt Frank goes out with a no-nonsense, zero tolerance, policy on crime (regularly using heavy weaponry to teach wrong-doers a lesson; providing a severe beating for everything from mugging to keying a car), and is joined by Inception’s Ellen Page (who previously worked with Rainn on Juno); as his “kid sidekick” Boltie.
Unfortunately Super is still yet to receive an official U.K. release date (although it’s highly likely to follow at somepoint; even if it does go direct-to-DVD), but luckily for U.S. audiences it’s due to be released in America on April 1st.
